After breakfast, you will start your day with a short Kigali city tour to see the beautiful, clean, and most secure country in Africa, which boasts to be the country of a thousand hills.  You will visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to witness and pay tribute to people who lost their lives during the 1994 Genocide against Tutsi, which took a million lives. It is a place of somber reflection but also a center of education for humanity and peace.

After you visit the genocide memorial, embark on a breathtakingly scenic and educative drive to Musanze- the home district of the gorillas and a chain of volcanoes. This is the best opportunity to learn more about Rwanda’s ways of living, farming, cattle keeping, socio-economic life of Rwandans. You will have to stop at designated areas for a coffee break and lunch before you proceed to the volcanoes’ region. You will enjoy seeing the endless picturesque mountains.

In Kinigi, start your exploration by visiting the Ibyiwacu Culture Village. This is a community-based socio-enterprise created to help the former poachers and community living in the vicinity of the Volcanoes National Park to showcase the Rwandan traditional living, King’s palace replica, traditional medicine, and traditional dances. The time you will spend in this place will leave you astonished by how rich Rwandan tradition is.

It honors the legacy of Dian Fossey, a renowned primatologist who dedicated her life to studying and protecting mountain gorillas in Rwanda.
