Tour Plan

Day 1 Arrival at Kigali International Airport & Transfer to Hotel

Depending on the arrival time and your place of origin, you will find our designated tour guide waiting for you at Kigali International Airport. He will drive you to the hotel in the city center. The transfer will take approximately 20 minutes from the airport to the hotel if there is no traffic jam in the city.

You will enjoy a refreshing rest before you start your adventurous trip the following day.

Day 2 Transfer to Kinigi & Culture expedition

After breakfast, meet your designated tour guide (French or English speaking, depending on your wish). Together, you will start the journey that takes you through scenic countryside, offering glimpses of rural life and beautiful landscapes along the way. Your knowledgeable guide will take you through Rwanda’s general lifestyle, answering key questions you may have and sometimes stopping at points of interest along the way.

In Kinigi, start your exploration by visiting the Ibyiwacu Culture Village. This is a community-based socio-enterprise created to help the former poachers and community living in the vicinity of the Volcanoes National Park to showcase the Rwandan traditional living, King’s palace replica, traditional medicine, and traditional dances. The time you will spend in this place will leave you astonished by how rich Rwandan tradition is.

After visiting the Ibyiwacu culture village, it is time to visit the Ellen DeGeneres Campus. It honors the legacy of Dian Fossey, a renowned primatologist who dedicated her life to studying and protecting mountain gorillas in Rwanda. Dian Fossey’s work inspired global awareness about the plight of gorillas and contributed significantly to their conservation. Visiting the campus provides an opportunity to learn about Fossey’s pioneering research and her ongoing impact on gorilla conservation efforts.

The Ellen DeGeneres Campus offers educational programs and experiences for visitors interested in learning more about gorillas, conservation, and environmental sustainability. Through guided tours, interactive exhibits, and educational workshops, visitors gain valuable insights into the challenges facing gorilla populations and the importance of protecting biodiversity. After this educative visit, you will head to your hotel for a relaxing and refreshing sleep.

Day 3 Gorilla trekking

Led by experienced guides and park rangers, gorilla trekking expeditions offer more than just a chance to see these incredible primates up close. They provide a deeper understanding of the delicate ecosystems they inhabit and the conservation efforts required to protect them. As you traverse dense vegetation and navigate rugged terrain, each step brings you closer to a meeting with a gorilla family, where you’ll have the privilege of observing their behavior, social interactions, and daily routines.

Gorilla encounter is a profound and humbling experience, as you come face to face with beings whose intelligence, emotion, and familial bonds mirror our own. The sight of a silverback gorilla, towering and powerful yet remarkably gentle, leaves an indelible impression on all who are fortunate enough to witness it. As you watch gorilla infants playfully frolic under the watchful eyes of their mothers, you can’t help but feel a deep sense of connection to these remarkable creatures and the natural world they inhabit.

When you come back from trekking gorillas and having an energizing lunch, and if your energy level allows, your guide will take you to Ruhondo Lake, one of the twin lakes formed by the volcanic movement in the region. This is an opportunity to relax as you sail on the waters, watching the volcanoes, landscapes, rural life, and numerous water birds.

Day 4 Golden monkey trekking & Return to Kigali

Golden monkey trekking offers a fascinating wildlife encounter as visitors hike through the forest to find and observe groups of golden monkeys. These monkeys are known for their striking golden-orange fur and playful behavior, making them a delight to watch. Golden monkey trekking typically lasts for a few hours, with the duration depending on the location of the monkey groups and the difficulty of the terrain.

Visitors are accompanied by experienced guides and trackers who lead the trek and help locate the golden monkeys. The guides provide information about the monkeys’ behavior, habitat, and conservation status.

After the trek, your guide will take you to a nearby restaurant to have lunch before going back to Kigali. Arrival time in Kigali will depend on the arrival time from trekking and traffic situation.

Day 5 Kigali City Tour & Departure

On your last day in Rwanda, you will take time to visit the city center, and the Kigali Genocide memorial and buy souvenirs before you take your journey back to the airport, where you will take the flight back home. This will mark the end of your trip.
